Freigeist Bierkultur Auckland Launch - Friday 20th May, 12pm Posted on May 18 2016

Want to taste some of the most exciting beers coming out of Germany right now? Join us for the Auckland launch of Freigeist, who are are taking historical beer styles and reinventing them for the modern beer scene. Thanks to Beer Without Borders, here's what we're getting in kegs:

Geisterzug Rhurbarbed Gose 5.2%
Based on Freigeist's ancient spruced Gose recipe, Geisterzug Rhubarb features all the complexity, funkiness, and body of the of the original but with a tart and flavourful rhubarb twist.

Pfefferkoerner White 5.3%
A collaboration between Freigeist and a local fairtrade pepper company, Pfefferkoerner White is a weissbier brewed with peppercorns. Fun fact: because it contains pepper it is not allowed to be sold as a "bier" in Germany, and is officially labeled as "Biermischgetränk" (German for a shandy).

We'll also have a small selection of bottled beers from Freigeist, as well as a new range from Denmark gypsy brewing operation To Øl on the night.
